Better food means more birds
When you started feeding the birds in your garden, you imagined blue tits, great spotted woodpeckers, goldfinches and crows, but all you seem to see are pigeons, magpies, crows and a patio covered in mess and weeds.
It's all down to the bird food you put out. Cheap bird food is full of cheap grains like wheat, which are used to bulk the mix out. Although big birds like pheasants, crows, swans, ducks and geese enjoy these ingredients, little birds actually prefer energy-rich foods like suet and dried mealworms.
As well as that, cheaper blends contain entire seeds (husks included). To remove the hard husks with their tiny beaks, the little birds end up making a mess beneath the feeder (and the de-husked seeds drop to the floor, leading to weeds). All that time at the feeder leaves the little birds vulnerable to predators too.

Most bird seed manufacturers offer different foods to attract different birds, as well a blend for summer and one for winter. We send out one seasonal bird food blend which we adjust every month, meaning less waste for us as a manufacturer and you as a customer.
Simply choose how much bird food you wish to order and we'll do the rest.
If you are just getting going with feeding the birds, our Little Beaks subscription is the perfect place to start. 1kg of bird food gives you enough to put out a handful of bird seed every few days. As word gets out that your garden is the one to visit and you start to see more birds flocking in, you can upgrade to a bigger bag. Our Little Beaks subscription comes packaged in compostable, plastic free packaging.

Hi, I'm Clare
I believe you can look after smaller birds in urban gardens if you feed them the right foods, and that’s why I started A Little Bird Company.
Frustrated with the pigeons taking over our garden (and the weeds in my flower bed), I set about combining bird food ingredients to try to attract more variety and abundance to our bird feeder. Over time I improved on my bird food blends and shared them with family and friends and my hobby became a small business.
