I‘m excited to introduce this beautiful Artisan Hand Woven Nester for birds, lovingly crafted by talented artisans based in South Bangladesh.
This artisan nester creates a cosy little haven for your feathered buddies that’s not just good for them, but also supports sustainable and ethical craftsmanship – it’s a win-win!
Each of these nesters for birds is a work of art. They’re handwoven with recycled sari fabrics, giving them a totally unique look sure to enhance any garden or outdoor spot. By using recycled materials, we’re reducing waste while giving our garden birds a beautiful place to call home.
The expertise of these talented artisans is evident in every detail, ensuring these beautiful bird nesters stand the test of time and survive the elements. Our artisan nesters for birds don’t just look pretty. The beautiful weaving conceals a sturdy steel frame, providing a secure and snug retreat for birds and offering them respite from harsh weather during the winter months.
So, whether you’re a bird-whispering pro or just want to sprinkle some extra charm in your outdoor space, a woven nester for birds is a must. They also make a beautiful and sustainable plastic-free gift that supports the artisan weavers who make them.
Do these woven nesters work?
The most commonly received question we receive about these beautiful nesters for birds is whether they work, and the answer is they really do. Although they were designed with winter roosting rather than springtime nesting and breeding in mind, we have been sent pictures of a blue tit nest, a robin nest and even a blackbird nest carefully built inside the steel frame.
The Anita is a large, spherical-shaped nesting space perfect for birds who prefer to roost together in groups.
The Tahera is an elongated teardrop shape with a small space for single birds to nest or roost alone.
Designed for smaller birds who roost alone or as a pair, the Shesali is a medium sized, oval shaped nester with a medium-sized cavity.

I purchased a few of the Nesters to give to friends for Christmas. They look wonderful in the garden and my friends were thrilled. We have seen robins, blackbirds and tits checking out the nesters for their busy springtime.
Together with the Little Bird co bird food, which the birds love our gardens are full of birdsong.
That's so wonderful to hear - I'm so pleased to hear that the nesters went down well as gifts - let's hope the birds decide to move in! Thank you for your kind words about my bird food too. It's lovely to hear that your garden is so full of birds.
I saw these fabulous little nesting boxes at Chelsea Flower Show. Subsequently I ordered 6 for presents. They arrived promptly and everyone who has received them has been utterly thrilled and delighted with a present that has helped others.
Thank you to the Little Bird Company for being such a lovely company to deal with.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review for the Artisan Fairtrade Nester. I'm so happy to hear that you and your gift recipients are happy with the product and the impact it has on helping others. Thank you for choosing to support my small business and I hope to see you again soon! :)
This is an absolutely beautiful bird house. Sustainably made and super easy to put in place. We used the hooks to pit ours amongst the ivy. Can't wait for some little feathered friends to move in!
I’m so pleased that you like your bird house! Fingers crossed the birds will enjoy it just as much and roost down in months to come.
This is a lovely product, which actually looks even nicer than the photos show.
It was easy to hang, and we hope we get a little family living in there soon!
I’m really pleased that you love the Anita nester! It’s so pretty and I love the fact it’s handmade! Thank you for your review!
I loved these nesters at first site, because I believe we need to provide a space for the birds to roost in during the colder weather, along with the springtime nest boxes most of us already put up. When I first saw these nesters, I loved that they were handmade, supporting a fairtrade project, and using recycled materials - the colours are unique and they make a big impact, but I worried they might not stand up to our wet British winters. However, when I got my hands on one for the first time I loved how substantial and sturdy they feel. They’re not just a pretty feature!

Little birds were once a familiar sight in British gardens and countryside, but habitat loss and widespread pesticide use have caused their numbers to fall sharply. We started A Little Bird Co. to support these small songbirds - like robins, blue tits, blackbirds and wrens - with a carefully chosen blend of food and a range of feeders designed just for them. If you're hoping to welcome more birdlife and variety into your garden, you're in the right place.
Order a bag of our Seasonal Bird Food Blend, and we’ll deliver the perfect mix for your garden birds each month. A little business, for little birds! Learn more about our four seasonal blends below.
In early spring, garden birds are pairing up and preparing for new broods. This mix includes sunflower hearts, chopped peanuts, suet pellets, dried mealworms, and oyster shell grit to boost calcium for healthy eggs.
In late spring and early summer, adult birds are busily feeding their fledglings. This blend skips dried mealworms to avoid dehydration, and features sunflower hearts, chopped peanuts, suet pellets, pinhead oats, and oil‐rich hemp seed for an extra boost.
In late summer, young birds leave the nest and adults moult their feathers, leaving them vulnerable to attack and hindering their flight. Although they may be less visible in your garden when they’re not in their feathered finest, they need our support more than ever, which is why our mix features sunflower hearts, chopped peanuts, oil-rich hemp seed for glossy feather regeneration, and a touch of suet pellets for extra energy.
When the weather turns cold and food is scarce, our winter blend comes to the rescue. It’s a robust mix of sunflower hearts, suet pellets, chopped peanuts, dried mealworms, hemp seed, and pinhead oats to keep birds fed through frosty days.
Squirrels can be incredibly persistent, often depriving smaller species like blue tits, finches, and robins of their much-needed food. With the Squirrel Buster, you can finally enjoy a feeder that reliably deters those pesky squirrels.
Unlike cheaper options that often result in scattered seeds and a messy garden, our feeder is built from robust, high-quality materials that stand up to daily use while looking elegant in your garden. Its practical design means it's easy to fill, adjust, and maintain, so you can spend less time feeling frustrated and more time enjoying watching the little birds at your feeder.
The Squirrel Buster is the top seller for a reason – dependable squirrel deterrence, combined with practicality and a stylish addition to your garden.
We want to support all wildlife in our gardens—big, small, furry or feathered—even if it sometimes means sharing with a few bolder visitors. That said, when larger animals help themselves to your bird food, it can leave the little birds struggling for a bite to eat, which can feel frustrating. Read on for our bird feeding solutions.
Anyone who’s had a squirrel visit knows just how ingenious they can be. They’re strong, clever and persistent – if they can’t eat from your feeder, they might just bring the whole thing down to chew it to pieces. We’ve carefully tested a range of feeders that tackle the squirrel problem. Whether you choose a chew-proof, weight-activated Squirrel Buster or a solid, sturdy guardian cage, you can ensure the little birds can eat in peace.
Corvids - crows, jackdaws and magpies - are clever and strong, and they can easily intimidate the smaller birds into forfeiting their meal. Our Simon King Medusa Feeder Defender is designed to keep these larger birds at bay with chains that create discomfort against their flight feathers. Alternatively, our weight-activated feeder senses when a hefty visitor lands and temporarily restricts access, giving the little birds a fairer share of the food.
Once seen only in tropical climates, parakeets are now a common sight in London and steadily spreading further afield. These vibrant birds are interesting to watch, and they’re also assertive feeders. They can intimidate smaller birds and are brave enough to sit at the feeder for hours to get their fill. Our Simon King Medusa Bird Feeder Defender helps keep them in check by offering a controlled access point. The Starling Resistant Bird Feeder is also hard for them to access - although they can squeeze their heads through the lowest aperture to peck seeds from the tray, they can’t get enough for a worthwhile meal, which leaves them heading elsewhere to eat.
Starlings are an endangered species and need our support, but they can empty a feeder in minutes if left unchecked. Our Starling Resistant Feeder Set is tailored to this challenge. Although starlings can squeeze their head into the bottom aperture to grab any dropped seeds, they soon find the space too limiting for a proper feed. This clever design helps keep starlings at bay, ensuring that smaller, more vulnerable birds aren’t left hungry.
Pigeons can be persistent and may dominate your feeder if given the chance. To deter these determined visitors, you can choose from our range of solutions—be it the versatile Simon King Medusa Defender, the targeted Starling Resistant Feeder Set, or even the robust Squirrel Buster. Each option is designed to keep pigeons at bay, ensuring that your garden remains a welcoming haven for the little birds.
Some people are quite happy for rodents to hoover up food from beneath the feeder, but other people are strongly against it. If you don't want to see rats and mice beneath the feeder, you can use a weight activated feeder (like the Squirrel Buster) or a caged feeder with a tray (like the Starling Resistant Feeder Set) to give them less access to the food.
