Top Tip
For the weight mechanism to work as it should, the feeder needs at least 47cm (18 inches) of clearance on all sides: above, below and around it. If a squirrel can brace itself on a nearby fence, branch, wall or another feeder and reach across, it can access the seed without putting its full weight on the feeder itself, which means the mechanism won't trigger.
Hang it in open space, away from anything a squirrel could use as a launching pad. This is the single most common reason the feeder doesn't perform as expected, and the easiest fix.
