What's Included?

Brome Squirrel Buster – a weight‐activated, chew‐proof, squirrel‐resistant Bird Feeder with four feeding perches and a generous 750ml capacity feeding chamber.
Instruction booklet with a bird weight guide to help you adjust the mechanism so that only the smallest birds can feed.

How to Use

1. Lift the negative grip hanging tube and unhook the hanger.
2. Remove the metal shroud, fill the chamber with your A Little Bird Co. seed mix, then replace the shroud.
3. Rotate the green dial anticlockwise to deter heavier birds.
4. Insert the hook into the hanger.
5. Hang the feeder with 18 inches of clearance on all sides to prevent squirrels from bypassing the mechanism.

Care Instructions

The Squirrel Buster is designed for easy cleaning and can be disassembled by hand – no special tools needed. We recommend cleaning your Bird Feeder every fortnight to prevent the spread of disease. Fantastic piece of kit. Very easy to fill and adjust keeping out pigeons and limiting number of starlings that can feed. Very robust materials. Simple to take apart for filling and rehanging. So good ended up purchasing 3 in total to revamp the bird feeding area of my garden. Smaller birds are loving them.
Product was well packaged and sent promptly. Had a lovely thank you card included along with a sample size of the birdfood that can be purchased.

Best squirrel proof feeder so far…

I love this feeder and the mischievous squirrels in my garden are frustrated not being able to get to the bird food.
The birds however are loving it.
I was so pleased with this feeder that I bought a second one for my mum to use in her garden and she is thrilled with it too

Great bird feeder

Very thorough instructions for a novice bird watcher like me , the food which came with the feeder has gone but I haven’t seen any birds feeding on it when I have been at home. The bird feeder seems etc easy to maintain and clean

Squirrel Buster Feeder

I actually bought this because of an issue with rats getting on the bird feeders. I haven’t seen them attempt to get on it yet so I’m going to assume they’re completely flummoxed by it!
The feeder has been great for small birds. Our local robin is usually a bit rubbish with feeders and sort of flies at them but it seems to really like this feeder. It’s also helped control the starling mob. Usually they all swarm the feeders, knocking food flying and the smaller birds can’t get a look in but when two or more starlings try to land on this one, the ports close and they give up.

Squirrel buster

I do like this product, the problem is squirrels are crafty, because you have to hang it they will find away to swing it so they don’t land on the bottom and shut it. The birds love it and to be honest it’s very entertaining to watch the squirrels figuring out and putting their plan into action, even ratty has a go. But yes I like the product.

As soon as the food went out in the new feeder it was as if there had been a bird review on Trip Advisor! So many different species coming into the garden with Robins fighting for a perch and Blackbirds waiting for any food that was dropped. Would highly recommend.. thank you

Squirrels are too clever for this feeder

The dominant squirrel in our garden worked out how to use his body weight to get access to the food within 5 mins! My engineering graduate husband thought long and hard and moved both the position and height of the feeder. Ditto. This is sadly not effective as a squirrel proof feeder. On the positive side, the birds love the food, when they can get at it.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, and I’m really sorry to hear the feeder hasn’t performed as you’d hoped so far. I did just want to check a couple of things, as placement makes a big difference with this style of feeder. Ideally it needs around 18 inches of clearance on all sides, so squirrels can’t brace themselves on a fence, branch, wall or another feeder and lean across to reach the ports. If they’re able to put their weight elsewhere, the mechanism won’t activate as intended. If they’re leaning on the lid, hanging pole, mesh or perches themselves, it should trigger the closing mechanism. It’s also worth checking the sensitivity setting, as this can be adjusted depending on the size and determination of the local squirrels.
They are clever things, so sometimes a small tweak to position or sensitivity makes all the difference. I’m really pleased to hear the birds are loving the food though!

The squirrels and crows took a day to realise if they stayed on the tree not the feeder they could lean across and gobble the food, so sadly it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. Alittlebird company however were a great company to deal with.

Just to check, did you hang the feeder with 18' of clearance on all sides so he can't put his weight elsewhere and eat the food? Squirrel Proof

Having a few families of squirrels nearby I only use the Squirrel Buster Feeder. They do a great job. Not absolutely 100% because the clever squirrels know that if they hit the feeder a few sunflower hearts will be thrown out. A small price to pay for the 99% protection.

They’ve gone

I waited a while before commenting, at first the squirrels found all sorts of ways to hang upside down to get the nuts without triggering the closure mechanism . However they clearly got frustrated and I haven’t seen a squirrel for 3-4 weeks now. Someone else must be making it easier for them! I do have endless little birds enjoying their superior food though.

    1. Fill and assemble

    Remove the metal shroud, fill the chamber with your A Little Bird Co. seed mix, then replace the shroud. Thread the hanging tube onto the post, ensuring everything is securely in place. The negative grip tube prevents squirrels from loosening the feeder.

    Position the feeder with at least 18 inches of space above, below, and around. This stops squirrels from reaching across or using nearby surfaces for support. Hanging it in an open space ensures only small birds can perch and feed comfortably.
